adjectives

Words that describe nouns e.g. blue car

adverbs

Words that modify something other than a noun e.g. walk slowly.

alphabet

A character set that includes letters and is used to write a language

background

Part of picture or symbol that lies behind objects in the foreground that is often clear or has a specific colour

borders

Lines that indicate a boundary around a cell that can differ in thickness and colour

contrast

The perceptual effect of different colours near each other, symbols need to have good levels.  

core

Vocabulary made up of most commonly or frequently used words often pronouns and well known verbs

F

font

A graphical representation of text available in different typefaces, point sizes, weight, colour and design.

fringe

Vocabulary that is more specific to a topic, environment, or individual, often nouns e.g. dinosaur.

G

grid

A pattern of regularly spaced horizontal and vertical lines forming cells or tiles.
